Use the Open Connect Partner Portal to monitor the status of the appliances in your environment. The status summary shows you a high level status for your Open Connect environment. Drill down into more details at a site or manifest cluster level, then for individual appliances.
View high level status for your organization
Use the status summary indicator at the top left of the portal to view a summary of the number of appliances in your network that are currently in each state (OK/Success, Warning, Error, or Unknown). The status summary always stays open.
It is important to note that the Netflix NOC team is constantly monitoring all of the OCAs that are deployed around the world. Just because an OCA is in a warning or error state does not necessarily mean that there is any action required on your part. Typically, when an action is required on your part, the Netflix NOC team will contact you.
Click a status icon that has a non-zero appliance count displayed next to it to open a summary of all appliances that are in this state.
For example, in this case there is an appliance count of "61" displayed under the "OK" state.
Click the summary icon to see more information about these appliances, then click again to close the information panel.
View information and status for a site or manifest cluster
Use the status board to explore details at a site or manifest cluster level, and to drill down to additional appliance details. The status board opens by default after you log in to the portal. You can also click My Open Connect Network > Status Board to open the status board manually.
To view all sites or all manifest clusters, click "Site" or "Manifest Cluster" from the left navigation panel, then drill down further in the right panel to appliance details. As you are browsing, keep in mind that sites and manifest clusters have a many-to-many relationship. In other words, you can have one or more manifest clusters that span across multiple physical sites, or one physical site that contains multiple manifest clusters.
For example, a manifest cluster (A) that spans across multiple sites (1 and 2) will look like this in the Status Board > Manifest Clusters view:

This same manifest cluster (A) will look like this in the Status Board > Sites view:

To quickly view only one site or manifest cluster at a time, you can also click the name of the group that you are interested in from the left navigation panel.
If you want additional information about a physical site, click the "eye" icon next to a site name to view additional site details, such as the physical location of the site and contacts in your organization who are associated with the site. From this view, you can also manage your site contacts.
View individual appliance status
Each appliance is represented by a status widget that displays status and basic metrics at a glance.
The collapsed widget shows appliance health and various status flags. For example, you can see whether an OCA is serving traffic, downloading content updates, or in the process of having its firmware updated.
The traffic chart on this widget allows you to visualize the inbound and outbound traffic to the appliance in the last 24 hours. On this chart you will typically see a large peak of outbound traffic during peak streaming hours, and some amount of inbound traffic centered mostly around the configured fill window.
Hover over the status flags, controls, and icons on the widget to learn more about them or to reveal additional details. For example, if you hover over the Fill Window status flag, you can see more details about the fill window that is configured for an appliance.
Click the "eye" icon next to the name of the appliance to expand the appliance widget and see more details.
In the expanded view, you can see many additional details, such as:
- Network and other configuration details
- Hardware and firmware versions
In this view you can also open a support ticket for the appliance or navigate to BGP details.
Use the Metrics pages to explore metrics over time for a site, a manifest cluster, or your whole organization. Click My Open Connect Network > Metrics, then drill down to the group level (organization, site, or manifest cluster) that you are interested in.
Metrics are divided up into several general categories - for example, BGP Routes or Network. We are always adding and refining the metrics that are displayed. Help is available for each metric.
Metric data are retained for one week. Historical metric data (beyond one week) are also available to give an overview and show general trends - however, there might be some gaps in the historical data.
You can use the controls on the graphs to change the time frame for the graphs to toggle the type of graph that is displayed, or to perform other actions such as refreshing the data.
- If you are exploring metrics for multiple appliances within a site or cluster, it can be useful to switch from a line graph to a stack graph.
- You can export a chart to an image file or download it as a CSV file so that you can send metric information to someone on your team who does not have access to the Partner Portal, or to compare data from week to week.
