In some cases, you might be asked to replace a faulty optics module on an OCA. Follow the steps and videos below.

Performing maintenance on electronic equipment can be dangerous and should only be done by qualified technicians.

Before you begin

  1. Before you do any maintenance on an OCA, follow the guidelines and steps described in this article: OCA Maintenance Policies
  2. After the OCA is fully drained, power down the OCA completely by following the instructions in this article.
  3. Note: We do not support copper or active optical cable (AOC) transceivers (SFPs). Using unsupported SFPs inhibits our monitoring infrastructure from working correctly, and can cause undesirable streaming problems for our mutual customers. You should only install the optic modules that were included with your OCA, or an equivalent replacement.

Next steps

After the optics connectors are reseated, you can proceed to power the OCA on again and re-enable it to serve traffic.
