When an OCA reaches an end-of-life state, we may request that you e-waste the OCA. Before an OCA is e-wasted, our operations team needs to complete a remote decommissioning process. This process wipes data from the OCA and sets it to a Retired state. Unless the OCA is non-functional, you must keep the OCA online while we run this remote process.
When an OCA is marked for decommission, you will receive a notification via our ticketing system . You can correspond with the Open Connect team via this ticket to schedule the timing of the decommission and retirement process. If the OCA is non-functional or has been taken offline when the process runs, we will note this status, and we will set the OCA to a Retired state which will prevent it from serving traffic or connecting to our control plane services in the future.
When the process completes, you will be notified via the ticket thread and you will no longer see the OCA in the Partner Portal. At this point, you can disconnect the OCA, power it down, and e-waste it.
